California Dreams in Newcastle

Standard

Back in October Meg was just casually saying how she saw tickets for Katy Perry’s tour, she didnt realise that we would be going. That night we decided that we were going and that was the end of it. But it wasnt, we were both waiting on out student loans to be able to pay for the tickets and didnt end up paying for the tickets till a few days before. If  I had realised how amazing the experience would have been, I would have sold all my belonging to go to it!

The Thursday afternoon came around eventually, I had been shopping the week before to get a new outfit. I decided on a lovely wine coloured dress and gold accessories. Meg made her way to my house and dropped of stuff for the evening, and we headed out again to get some snacks. Walking through the park, alongside the castle, we had Katy Perry on loud speaker.
We had decided that we would need the whole day to get ready, but the same thing happens every time, we have to much time and end up bored and waiting till its time to leave.

Not only did I have my hair and make up to do, but Meg’s make up too.  Once we were both dressed and ready we took some photos. Meg was rather excited about the fact that if you tweeted a photo to Katy Perry she would show it at the show during ‘Last Friday Night’. However the photo was tweeted to the wrong place and didnt really end up anywhere.

Meg in her heels, and me in my summer sandals in the middle of October set of down the hill into town and make our way to the bus station where we were getting picked up by a coach to take us to Newcastle.
As we sat in our seats, we judged everyone getting on the coach, what they were wearing and how old they were. Suprisingly there were only a few people younger than us.

As the coach pulled away we both had our headphones listening to Katy Perry, you’d think we’d be sick of it after having it on all day on repeat, but no.

When we arrived in Newcastle we were trying ot guess which was the arena as neither of us had been there before. Guessing wasnt that hard, we just followed the crowds in the rain, avoiding puddles.
As we came out from under the bridge, ‘Last Frida Night’ was playing on loud speaker and it created the atmosphere and made it real.

We bounced up the steps to the arena and joined the que. Once the doors were open we were inside, there was Katy Perry merchandise everywhere. We both decided on the tour poster, costing £5, what a bargain!
GHD were also doing a promotional bit, have your picture take with a Katy Perry cardboard cut out. Its the closest we were going to get, so it was great.

Once we had had a good look around we made our way into the arena. It was spectacular, it was no where near full, but the atmosphere was still amazing. We couldn’t have asked for better seats, we were in the perfect location.
What we could see of the stage was perfect, it was really cute and pink.
Before Katy was to perform, Oh Land an American singer/band was supporting. Meg and I didn’t quite like them, and they were on for what seemed like a long time.
And just as we thought Katy was going to come on, DJ Skeet Skeet came on and did a few songs.

After long anticipation and waiting, Katy came on. The sound of ‘Teenage Dream’ echoed throughout the arena and the uproar of applause started. She appeard, looking amazing as always and began her set.

Having great seats meant I was able to get some alrite photos and a few videos.

Everysong was done perfectly, so many different costume changes. Peacock was stunning live, the costumes and the take on the song.
The songs I were waiting for turned out to be the last ones, Last Friday Night, the song of the summer and California Gurls the song of 2010. Of course, every year I had been to California one of Katy’s songs reminds me of it.

During California Gurls was when I realised that this was the summer all rolled into a few hours, just being there, listening and watching.
